Chimney Staging Set (Pre-Order)
***05/09/2025 - This item is for pre-order only - shipping by end September***
In the early years of the industrial revolution, chimneys popped up all over the UK to deal with the large quantities of smoke generated by mills & factories. In order to check and maintain them, steeplejacks developed tried & tested methods to erect ladders and scaffolding, or 'staging', to allow works to be carried out.
This 4mm scale kit is suitable for any of JSModels' industrial chimney kits, and includes 16x 21' long tapered chimney ladders (enough to do both sides of even our large chimney) stand-offs, two sets of staging (each comprising 6x scaffold boards and associated timber supports) and 4x 10' ladders, plus a highly-detailed 3D printed steeplejack figure, with glasses, flat cap, pocket watch, and even a cigarette in his mouth!
Kit contains 4 sheets of parts cut from 1mm MDF, 1x unpainted steeplejack figure, and assembly instructions.
To see how the ladders & staging was erected, you can view some of the old Fred Dibnah videos on YouTube - THIS ONE shows how the ladders were installed, and THIS ONE shows the process for installing the staging.
